The listing is a middleman.
Here's how to find the factory behind it.

Every listing hides the same question: who actually makes this? A middleman won't say. Here is the playbook we built into our $4.99 Source Report.

The listing is a middleman. That is the whole problem.

Most AliExpress listings are resellers — trading companies sitting between you and the factory that actually stamps the product. The listing page will not tell you which is which, and the seller has little interest in you finding out. Your goal is not certainty from the listing: it is finding the candidate suppliers behind it, then asking the right five questions.

Signals a listing is resold, not made

  • A wide, unrelated catalog — phone cases and yoga mats and LED strips in one store.
  • No original photos: stock images, catalog renders, no photos of a production line or packaging.
  • Prices that track the marketplace, not a factory price ladder.
  • "Dropship"-branded stores, generic titles, and no customization options (a factory offers logo/packaging).

The four moves that work

  1. Reverse-image the product photos. Crop out store watermarks and feed the clean image into a reverse search. Listings often share photos with distant sellers — and sometimes with the factory itself, whose store is narrower and cheaper.
  2. Search the manufacturer phrasing. Factories advertise differently: "OEM", "custom logo", "factory directly", the product name plus "manufacturer". Find the same product in a store that only sells that product family.
  3. Read the listing like a buyer. Variant photos, packaging shots, warehouse-vs-line photos, and the “supplier info” panel all leak signals about who is holding the stock.
  4. Order one sample and read the box. Labels, stickers, and inner packaging carry the manufacturer’s marks. It costs the price of one unit and answers questions no listing ever will — this is the ground truth.

The five questions we generate for every sourcing report

  1. What is the price ladder — at my quantities (10 / 100 / 1,000)?
  2. What is the true lead time — production plus dispatch?
  3. What breaks first — what defect rate do you see at volume?
  4. Can you customize — logo, packaging, inserts — and at what MOQ?
  5. Can you ship directly, and with which carriers and terms?

Our $4.99 Source Report does the search pass for one product: it finds candidate suppliers, prices the product delivered with duty for the US and Canada, and writes these five questions tailored to what you are buying. You can see a full sample report here.

An honest boundary

Nobody can verify a factory from one photo in one sitting — and tools claiming "verified factories" from a listing scan are bluffing. What you can do is narrow the field fast, ask sharp questions, and let a sample order confirm. Orbitsave prepares the order spec; it does not place orders or handle payment.
